Kunsthistorisches Museum - Vienna

So I got us combination tickets to the 'Treasures of the Hapsburgs' the day before. We ran around like crazies looking at the crown of the Holy Roman Empire, Napoleon's son's baby crib (yeah, didn't know that before I saw it - Napoleon married into the family when he conquered Vienna LOL! They had a son...) and other treasures. I decided to wait until the following day to go into the Kunsthistorisches Museum (Historical Art museum) and enjoy it instead of rush through, so this post is for my dad as he wasn't able to see everything. Sorry again for my bad 'time-planning' :(

So here is the Egyptian room which my dad was very interested in...

Hungry, Hungry Hippo ;)

'My buddy Horus'...at least that is what I would name this piece....

Then ancient Egypt gives way to the Romans....thought all of these heads were interesting....

Roman medallion...

Just amazes me at the talents some people are given...quite amazing, eh?

'Hello'. 'Hello'. 'Hello'. 'Hello'.

Tight quarters for a conversation ;)

Nice....

This was made in the 1600's or so....

Staircase with Theseus about to bludgeon a centaur....Napoleon commissioned the statue...

Just amazed in Europe, i.e. Louvre, how sometimes the museums are more beautiful than the pieces....

Looking up....

The art they had was ok, but these I found SO imaginative and interesting!

They are by an artist named Giuseppe Arcimboldo and they were painted in the 1560's. Isn't it just creative?!

This one is called 'Sommer'....

And then this one is 'Winter'....

:)

Beautiful building!

More of the staircase area....

Albrecht Durer - love him!

The character of this painting is so intense...hmm....

Peek-a-boo!

This is famous - Bruegel's 'Tower of Babel'...sorry for the fuzziness, me camera no takey goody pix in non-light light....

This one is also famous and also by Bruegel. It is called 'the Wedding Feast'...

Here is where the coin and medallion collection is....

Love duh buildin'!

Ceiling....

Berry nice, berry, berry nice....

Well, thanks Kunsthistorisches Museum for a great time and hopefully Dad you got to see some of what you missed....
