Granada - Generalife

So we have to go out the way we came in, but what a lovely view....'white mountain majesties'....

again, 'who's been painting my roses red?!'

So you saw in the Alhambra pix what Generalife looked like. It was the summer palace of the Muslim rulers and was largely built in the early 1300's....

There you have it...another 'pool garden, but the thing that is significant about Generalife is that it is considered to be one of the best, if not last, examples of medieval Moorish gardens in Spain.

View of the Alhambra from the gardens of Generalife....

what a view, what a view...

That 'wall' off in the distance is an old fortification wall for the area....
Then below again, is the Albacin (Arab neighborhood)...

Another garden with fountains...

How refreshing to be here on a hot Spanish day!

I thought this was VERY interesting....so in the Alhambra they have stairs with an 'irrigation canal', and in Generalife they have 'hand rails' with running water!

What a view! That is la Alhambra and the city in the background....

Love the 'framed' image photos....

The Spanish version of 'Do-Re-Mi' ;)

Looking back....even prettier....

I don't like these evergreens, but they still looked good up there....

'Painting the roses red, we're painting the roses red...'

'the secret garden'....

peek-a-boo!

And here is where they have concerts in the summer...how nice would that be?!

and there you have it, Palace of Generalife....
